Driving miss Gilda

I'm waiting in the airport for a stand-by flight to Chicago, I'm visiting my friend Taylor there. My mother dropped me off here on her way to work and along the way it occurred to me that Chicago is still one of the most racially divided cities in the country, I don't remember why I mentioned it to begin with, I may have been recalling an episode of This American Life. In any case, My mother then recounted a story about the windy city to me, one I had heard before but apparently hadn't thought much about. In a way I guess I have been to Chicago, my Mother was four months pregnant with me when her and my Father went there for his Mother's funeral. Incidentally she was being buried in a predominantly Polish part of town, one which my Father's family (who are Black) were not comfortable traveling through for the procession. So much so that they were motivated to ask my Mother to sit in the front seat of their car, an attempt to make her appear to be their employer. They still received threatening looks, I've had a similar experience in Dublin.

A nice girl let me use her computer charger, I think that's the only thing i forgot to bring.

shyness can stop you

but it's nice I guess.
I'm thinking of new tattoos to get, a friend of my mother's has a daughter who's still apprenticing and doing free tattoos for the rest of the month. I have some shapes on me that are symbols for flowers or fireworks, they're sort of interchangeable, in any case I want a few more. I've got something like these in mind.
